Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “değersiz sindirilebilirler”) tanılamamlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine rabıtlanmasıyla oluşan kesik polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino hamız sözıntısı ile ötekisi arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” veya peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]
Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (veya çok sayıda polipeptit madun birimi çitndırır). Temel ayırt peptitlerin kesik, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]
Protein sentezi esnasında her amino hamız, başka amino asite ruzuşeb, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle rabıtlanır. Polipeptid konstrüksiyonsına sulplan amino asitlerin her biri konstrüksiyonya peptid rabıtlarıyla rabıtlanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu esnasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir su çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]
Vasati bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Aşina en uzun polipeptit, ortalama 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda mevcut “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine sulplan amino asitlere sözıntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki sözıntı, bağ yapmamış, erkin amino grubu çitndırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin başka ucundaki erkin α-karboksil grubu olan sözıntıya C ucu adı verilir.
